Gachon University Gil Medical Center joined the global consortium in the field of personalized cancer treatment.

On June 27th, Gachon University Gil Medical Center announced that they were approved to join the WIN (Worldwide Innovative Network) consortium, which was held in Paris, France, on June 26th.

WIN consortium is the biggest global consortium for personalized cancer treatment. Members include 25 worldwide cancer centers, such as M.D. Anderson of U.S., Memorial Sloan Kettering of New York, Curie Research institute in Europe, National Cancer Center of Germany, and 9 companies including Pfizer Pharmaceutical as well as non-profit organizations.

Gachon University Gil Medical Center has been steadily accumulating their ability about cancer research by operating Lee Gil Ya Cancer and Diabetes Institute in 2008. In 2016, Gachon Institute of Genome Medicine and Science was opened in order to increase capability of genome analysis and study for treatment.

Dr. Shin, Dong Bok, director of Cancer Center of Gachon University Gil Medical Center said “The personalized cancer treatment has already begun, and what matters is how we can apply the innovative model of personalized cancer treatment to patients effectively. By joining the WIN consortium, we look forward to having productive interaction with global cancer centers, so that we can utilize research results to cancer patients quickly.”

Moreover, Cancer Center of Gachon University Gil Medical Center is applying the latest technologies for cancer treatment after being designated for regional cancer center in 2011.
