An independent medical system providing specialized medical services

 

Gachon University Gil Hospital is being recognized as an independent medical center providing specialized services since early 80’s. Starting as the obstetrics and gynecology hospital, the history of Gil Hospital demonstrates a long process of journey turning into the general hospital to provide broader medical services and then became a university hospital again to constantly pursue patient care and disease prevention.

At the moment, the Hospital fully performs its specialized features of individual centers that are dividend into heart, brain, eye & ENT, dental, women and emergency center for the Incheon west coast region.

Furthermore, the Hospital has been carrying out a part as a gateway in collecting and applying home and abroad medical achievements by hosting international conferences such as cardiovascular symposiums, brain & spinal nerve endoscope workshop and alternative & complementary medicine seminars based on our medical achievements.

In addition, our Emergency Center dedicated to the west coast region of Incheon is focusing on emergency patients from the western sea area including Incheon and became an advanced exemplary of the prompt and correct emergency care system allocated with medical specialists including neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and pediatricians as well as emergency medicine specialists.

Together with high reputation of medical teams, our Heart Center is widely known to the public for its free heart screening services that have been carried out by touring the whole country every year.

Also, Women’s Center has been contributing to patient care and prevention related to gynecologic diseases and cancer that are recently on increasing trend, by annually offering free cervical cancer screening services for women, for almost half a century since its opening.

In particular, Emergency Center for Incheon west coast area formed in December, 1999 to preserve health of the community in Gyeonggi, Chungnam as well as Incheon regions became an exemplary of the prompt and advanced emergency medicine system. The Center is stationed with medical specialists for 24 hours and by organizing subdivided medical teams such as poison team, cerebrovascular team, injury team, pediatric emergency team, and CPR team, it is operated to take appropriate and immediate actions according to different patient conditions. In addition, to preserve life of patients under critical situations, the Center introduces and operates an advanced system such as PACS, Telemedicine and Short & Fast Track System to implement shortest space movement and prompt first aid.

Moreover, the Hospital operates GRC to establish close cooperative relations with other hospitals in the country and contributes to an establishment of emergency system by continuously providing first aid related education programs to doctors, nurses, students and citizens as well as 911 rescuers.

The Integrative Medical Center has been accomplishing a great deal in the treatment of various chronic disease including women’s menopausal disorder and panic disorder, through alternative and complementary medicine increasing therapeutic action in addition to naturopathic medicine from Europe and modern medicine such as homeopathy. Alternative and complementary medicine utilized by the Integrative Medical Center would be based on certain ingredients extracted from natural sources such as animal, botanical plants and mineral after undergoing carefully selected processes. All ingredients used in the Integrative Medical Center are proved for safety. In accordance with the conventional way in modern medicine, the diagnosis and treatment of that diagnosed disease will be undertaken by medical doctors. In this sense, the integrative medicine can be differentiated with pre-existed Eastern healing practices.

Gachon University Gil Hospital has been constantly putting its utmost efforts to implement a digital hospital. Starting with its establishment of Commerce At Light Speed (CALS) System in 1991, the Hospital has completely equipped with PACS and Telemedicine System to gain a firm foothold. As a result, patients visiting our hospital will experience more accurate, prompt and comfortable medical services in the future.
Besides appointment services recently being available via Internet access, Gil Hospital also launched a new service to inform schedules for clinics and health lectures through SMS. Gil Hospital constantly puts efforts on strengthened specialization and advancement of the hospital by securing the latest medical equipments including 3D angiography systems such as AXIOM and ESWL using magnetic field.

Since 1958, Gachon University Gil Hospital has innovatively drawn near to patients by claiming a hospital no longer requiring any deposit. Furthermore, it has been performing varied medical volunteer works such as free clinics in the insular areas and that spirit has continued on without ceasing until now.

Our free cervical cancer screening services performed by Women’s Center since 1959 can be a typical example. Regardless of residential districts, any woman can receive this service at the Gil Hospital and its affiliated hospitals.

In addition, ‘Heart Center’, which is fully stationed with the best medical teams, practices the healing art of medicine without boarder. By utilizing its latest equipments and specialized teams, Gil Hospital tours the whole countries every year to provide free heart screening services and even performs free heart disease examinations and surgeries in other countries such as Uzbekistan, Vietnam and China.

The campaign office “Find a new life” began by the hospital in 1992 at a citizen’s level has been a great hope for many patients and was re-established as a social welfare corporation in 2001. Along with these activities, Gil Hospital also performs voluntary works for the community by dispatching its medical groups to the local site in the events of natural disaster such as flood damage, etc.

Gachon University of Medicine and Science turned out its first graduates in February 2004. 100% of our first graduates passed the National Examination for Medical Practitioners in the upper ranks and all of them have crossed over to mass appeal for applying to Gachon University Gil Hospital, which is practically to be their parent hospital. Since Gachon University of Medicine and Science has changed to “University School of Medicine” from 2005, as a leader in the domestic graduate schools of medicine, Gachon University School of Medicine is expected to greatly contribute to the development of Korean medical science in addition to its core role fostering proficient and devoted practitioners as well as the students from the newly established Life Science Department.
