Lumbar disc disease (herniated lumbar disc) : Disc is a soft bone tissue that connects in between vertebral bones. The disc is flexible and elastic, so it makes spine movement smooth and absorbs shock. The nucleus inside the disc is mostly made of water. With aging process, this water gets out of the way, decreasing the elasticity. So it cannot withstand external pressure and the disc can be herniated, compressing or damaging the nerve.

In severe cases, it makes it difficult to walk for long period, affecting daily activity, so it is important to treat it as early as possible.
